Student Ministry Internship - Job Description
Position Title: Student Ministry Intern
Reports To: Lead Pastor
Term: September 2025 through November 2025 (Optional continuation through December and/or Spring Semester)
Hours: Approx. 12 hours/week (not including travel)
Compensation: $1,000/month + $50/month professional expense account + $500 bonus (if full year served)
POSITION OVERVIEW: As Student Ministry Intern, your role is to lead the youth ministry under the guidance of the Lead Pastor. You will help shape programs, disciple students, and engage volunteers while learning and growing in ministry. Your academic commitments will be respected as part of this development-oriented role.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
WEDNESDAY NIGHTS
• Plan, prepare, and lead youth group (6:30-7:30pm)
• Speak weekly, except for one Wednesday/month (recruit other speakers)
SUNDAYS
• Attend morning worship at 10:00am
• Organize and lead a weekly Sunday PM program, begin by 9/21
COMMUNICATION
• Weekly 1-on-1 with Lead Pastor (45-60 minutes)
• Communicate with parents about programs and events
• Promote events via Instagram(@mhnazarene_youth) &
Facebook (Group: MHNazarene Youth)
• Develop meaningful relationships with students
VOLUNTEERS
• Equip and mobilize youth staff to foster relationships with students
• Recruit and onboard new volunteers as needed
EVENTS
• Plan one additional event/month(service projects, district, social, etc.) led by intern, youth staff, or parents
• Events requiring extra travel to Mountain Home earn a $100 stipend (maximum of one/month)
• Organize logistics for events; engage parents and volunteers
• Participate in district events in Treasure Valley as your schedule allows

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Loves students and pointing them toward Jesus
• Creative self-starter with consistent follow-through
• Currently enrolled in ministry-related courses preferred
• One year of ministry experience preferred, but not required

TERMS & BENEFITS:
• Minimum Commitment: 3 months (Fall Semester)
• Spring Return Option: January – April (at same rate)
• Full Year Bonus: $500 if serving both semesters
• Professional Expense Account: $50/month for student connections

EDUCATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:
• Academic conflicts should be communicated in advance
• Intern is responsible for finding appropriate coverage
• MHNaz will support requirements for supervised ministry experience

YOUTH MINISTRY STATUS:
• Current active program: Wednesday Night Youth Group
• Four committed volunteer youth staff assist with games, lessons, small groups
• Recent past curriculum: Alpha Youth, Parables of Jesus, and “The Passion of the Christ” series from The Foundry
• Intern may help select or create curriculum with Lead Pastor
• Sunday program is not currently running and will be developed by the intern
• Youth staff have contact lists for relational outreach and event promotion
